Sci & Tech Entrance

Science and technology entrance examination may be not that famous all around the world unlike that of law and the medical examination. But it should be understood that that this exam is significant in most jobs which requires the expertise in science and technology. The jobs which are often available for graduates of this major can be that of industrial companies and manufacturing companies as well. This is also similar as of that engineering but this one is more generic and is actually concentrated on the science and technology and the modern techniques and understanding in science. This examination is crucial for those who want to work abroad after graduation and be part of the ever growing technological companies in the world.
Entrance examination for Science and technology courses is of course focused on obtaining a good score in mathematics and sciences. In most cases, they also include general information with regard to the country which conducts the exams. The percentage of passing shall also depend on the country. In Japan for example, the percentage of passing score should be higher because people are expecting much form Japan and they are the reliable source of the use of science and technology in the world. Science and technology has become one of the major sources of improvements in the world and therefore there is a high regard to those practitioners of this field.
Entrance exam for Science and technology career is offered without any review from many countries although self review can be done by the student who will enter such field. The examination does not have philosophy but also the basic aptitude test like that of a college entrance exam. The only difference is that the focus of this one is on the sciences and development in technology. Information on computers and the like are also included in some examinations.
The science and technology entrance examination is just a way of measuring the person’s capability to further study science and also his potential to contribute to the advances in science. This is being conducted just like any other exam which aims not to waste the effort of the student in learning the subject. This is also a manner of screening future scientists which do not specifically refer to those laboratory experts but of the field of science in general. The science and technology entrance examination may also be easy if you have the heart on such subject.
Competence in Software Technology (CST) Examination
The trend of not depending on only educational transcripts and academic records is very popular these days as entry examinations are mandatory to be cleared for entry in higher education institutes and some companies. Similarly, Competence in Software Technology (CST) examination is an entry test, which can be the criteria for selection in many advanced educational institutes and professional software organizations. Company behind CST is C-DAC, and it conducts the test and awards the certificates for the successful candidates.
Test is very long with the duration of five hours. Successful candidates have many doors open for them once they clear the test. They can either use the certificate for getting admission in universities or opt for a job in C-DAC itself or any other reputable I.T firm. Test is conducting in many locations in India, so the candidates can choose the center, per their convenience.
CST exam is divided into five sections, and questions can come from various Computers related fields along with few questions on aptitude. The salient fields covered in the examination’s questions are Computer Organization, Computer Operating Systems not related to any particular OS but covers the general concepts in Data Structures and Algorithms are also covered in optional exams. Top scorers in the examination are also offered Project fellowship with C-DAC.
Graduates of all disciplines can try their luck in the CST examination. However, a qualification examination also has to be passed by the interested candidates. Candidates with computer science background are generally preferred, and it also makes more sense for people with I.T background to appear in the exam. Minimum passing marks in the qualification examination are 50%. People waiting for their graduation results or studying in the final year (semester or trimester) are also eligible to appear in CST. Candidates with different academic background from the standard Indian system need to obtain the equivalency certificate. In essential, 14 years of formal education is considered equivalent to Indian graduation.
Candidates need to obtain the form with the prospectus either from the C-DAC website or from the physical C-DAC location. Entry forms can also be ordered by mail too by paying the mailing charges along with the original fee. C-DAC website also contains loads of information about all the aspects of the examinations. So, paying a visit to the website is worth spending the time, before actually appearing in the CST examination.
There are many online and bricks and mortar based institutes that can help the candidates prepare for the examination.

Graduate School Admission Test (GSA)
The Graduate School Admission Test is conducted by the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research or also known as TIFR. Joint Admission Test – M.Sc (JAM)
The Joint Admission Test for M.Sc which is conducted by Indian Institutes of Technology. The joint admission test was only started in 2004 – 2005 which had a main objective of providing admissions to dual degree and post B.Sc programs based on the performance in a single test so as to consolidate science as a career option for bright students from all across the country and the world over.
The M.Sc course is not restricted to Indian candidates but also encourage nationals from other countries, however other nationals will have to satisfy the rules and regulations of the institutes that they are applying for. The application for a desired program would require the candidate to measure up in the corresponding test paper as well as ensure he or she satisfies the minimum educational qualification as well as the eligibility criteria of the applied academic program. This is not restricted to people who have completed the educational qualification but also who have appeared for the respective exams or due to appear for them as well. Just appearing for the JAM exams or getting a merit alone does not assure them a place but the admissions also depend on the number of available seats in specific universities.
The minimum requirements in terms of educational qualification would be a bachelors degree with mathematics as a subject for one year at the least for yearly system candidates and two papers of mathematics at the least for semester system candidates. As far as the marks aggregate are concerned the candidate should have scored fifty five percentage or more and for scheduled caste and scheduled tribe a minimum of fifty percentage is the requirement. If a candidate has letter grades instead of percentage the institute that is admitting the candidate will calculate the equivalent percentage accordingly.
The pattern of questions for biotechnology and computer applications will be fully objective which will have to be answered in an objective response sheet which is also called as ORS. Only a black pencil should be used to darken the bubble and the evaluation of these sheets will be done electronically. All the other papers will be objective as well as subjective type questions. The objective questions will have four choices out of which only one would be correct and the candidate will have to select the correct answer. In case of incorrect answers there will be a negative or reduction of one third of the marks the question carries.
There are both online and offline forms available for application process although most institutes prefer online mode versus offline mode as it makes it a lot easier for processing.

Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST)
The joint entrance screening test is a test that qualifies you to for admission to research programs in physics at more than twenty premier institutes in India. The JEST or joint entrance screening test is conducted to shortlist candidates for applying in PhD programs in physics and theoretical computer science at the institute of mathematical sciences. Like most other entrance exams the joint entrance screening test does not guarantee you an admission into research fellowship.
Based on the result each of the candidates who have come out of the entrance screening test with good percentage will receive calls from respective institutes with offers for its own selection procedure solely depending on its requirements.
The eligibility for these PhD programs are as follows:
Physics: M.Sc. degree in physics or M.Sc. / ME/ M.Tech. in accompanying disciplines. IIA also considers candidates with M.Sc degree in mathematics, applied physics, applied mathematics, optics and photonics, instrumentation and electronics. The minimum requirement however is over fifty five percentage of marks.
There are options to apply online and for people with difficulty in applying online can also apply offline, however it is always preferred that you apply online to make things easier for the institute that you are applying with.
The questions that are asked for this entrance exam are objective type, however along with the right answer there are three other wrong answers which will be startlingly similar. The candidate will have to consider the options before he or she chooses the right one and shade the appropriate bubble with black pencil. Multiple answers to the same question if shaded will not be considered for marks and the wrong answer to each question will have a negative marking, which means there will be marks reduced per wrong answer. It is also widely known that there are lots of institutes as well as coaching centers which specialize in training candidates for the JEST admission exams. There is also loads of websites which offer training material at cost or at no cost too. This essentially helps each individual to obtain the necessary exposure before he or she applies and attends the JEST examinations.
